Waiver and Release
I agree to comply with the rules of the 2011 Kawerau King of the Mountain Race. I waive all claims against the event organisers, promoters or sponsors. I agree that any photographs and video taken maybe used for promotional purposes. I consent to the information provided being used for the event administration and promotion. This consent is given in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993.
Race Start: 12 noon
- The race will start and finish at Firmin Field, Waterhouse St, Kawerau.
- Officials on the course must be obeyed at all times. They are there for your safety.
- The route up and down the mountain is via the designated marked track and is marked. You must keep to the designated marked track. If you choose to take any alternative track you will be instantly disqualified from the race.
- You must go through the checkpoint at the top of the mountain. Your number will be recorded for your safety at checkpoints 5,6,7 and 8
- Runners descending the mountain have right of way.
- Entrants must give way to faster competitors.
Limited water is available on the mountain. There are 4 drink stations – 2 on the way up – 1 at the top – 1 on the way down. Particular emphasis should be given to pre race hydration
Official timing will cease after 2.5hours, and marshals withdrawn from the course. If you have not reached the summit after two hours you will be withdrawn from the race and taken down by 4WD.
You must report any injured people to the officials at any of the drink stations.
Race numbers to be worn on the front of singlets and be visible at all times.
In the event of an emergency make your way to the nearest marshalling point on the mountain at checkpoints 4,5, 6, or 7, or 8 and await further instructions.
If you withdraw from the race and do not cross the finish line you must make sure an official knows and reports your number. EVERYONE must be checked off the mountain.
Competitors must be fit to compete in this event within the times scheduled (2 hours to the summit and 2.5hrs to the finish line)
Particular emphasis should be given to pre race hydration
Expect adverse conditions.
Late entries will be accepted until 11am on race day. Entries are limited to 160 participants. No late entries will be available on the day if there are 160 participants already registered on line.
There will be no event refunds given for this event. If for some reason you have entered but are unable to participate in the event, please get in contact with event organisers.
Race packs are to be collected from race headquarters at Firmin Field (off River Road) from 9.30am on race day.
The course time clock will be positioned at the finish line. Split times will be recorded at the top of the mountain.
Race numbers are to be handed in at the end of the race for the spot prize draws. You must be present to receive your spot prize.
Toilets are available at the venue. Hot showers and a free hot swim are available at the Kawerau Town Swimming Pool.
Plenty of parking is available. Follow signage.
Race Photos will be posted on the Kawerau Harriers Website following the event.
Open from 8am – 6pm and is free to the public. There is a heated spa pool as well as a 25m swimming pool and children’s pool. There are also showers available at no cost. The pools are located near the town shopping centre on Plunket Street.
Race Briefing: 11.45 on the start line is compulsory
